
THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

Preparation
To receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, it requires 2 consecutive years of religious formation, either in a Catholic school or parish faith formation program.
All students eligible to receive Confirmation must participate in the Family Faith Formation program as well as attend the sacramental preparation classes the 2nd & 3rd Sunday of each month from 5:30-6:30pm. Students are also required to attend a retreat during the year as a part of their preparation.
*The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian faith, so it is expected that all candidates for Confirmation attend weekly Sunday Mass . Mass attendance sheets will be provided and must be signed by the presiding priest or deacon.
For those adults who are over the age of 18, who have received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion but have not been confirmed, Please contact:

Choosing a Sponsor
All candidates for Confirmation will choose a sponsor to journey with them in the Catholic faith. A sponsor is a person in your child’s life who understands and lives the teachings of our faith and can guide and mentor the candidate throughout his or her lifetime.

The diocesan requirements for a sponsor are the following:
*At least 16 years of age
*Has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation
*Attends Sunday Mass on a weekly basis
*If married, he or she was married in the Catholic Church
*Is not the parent of the candidate
*Understands and accepts the responsibility of being a sponsor.
